Yet more primer problems!

I don't have much luck with eye primers or rather with their packaging. The last tube of Too Faced Shadow Insurance I used split open on me as shown in the pic below and half of it was wasted.

The latest culprit is NYX's HD eyeshadow base.

My current tube was running out and when using it for what I thougth would be the last time I noticed that the opening of the tube had come away. Now you'd be forgiven for thinking I'm being daft for moaning about a packaging fail on a near empty tube but what actually irritated me was the realisation that there was absolutely TONS of product left in the tube - this much to be precise...

For reference this is a 7g pot that I transferred it into and its at least half full! Now I think most beauty bloggers are aware of the UD Primer Potion issue where the elaborate curves of the bottle secretly harbour tons of leftover product but this is a straight tube for lord's sake!!!

The battle of the eye primers

Contenders

In the red corner we have Too Faced Shadow Insurance weighing in at 11g and sporting a price tag of £16.50. Over in the blue corner we have NYX HD Eyeshadow base coming in lighter at 8g but also waaaaaay cheaper at £3.78.

The Match

I applied different primers on each eye followed by my usual weekday eyeshadow combo of YSL Pearly Peach  and Boots 17 Mardi Gras.

The Results

Here are the piccies from 8am and then again at 5pm when I got in from work....

As you can see the left side looks practically the same as it did at 8am whereas the eye on the right is showing signs of wear especially around the crease area.

and the winner is...

NYX HD eyeshadow base. Yup the cheaper option came out on top..am a little ashamed to say its not the result I expected but also really pleased that my bargain ebay purchase paid off!

Swatched: NYX Haul

Hey everyone - as promised here are the swatches of the bits I picked up in my NYX ebay haul

♥ Concealer pot and stick

Despite picking these up in the same shade (04 Beige) they actually look slightly different when swatched with the concealer pot (top swatch) coming up ever so slightly darker than the stick. They're very different texture wise too. The stick has a much dryer consistency so I'd imagine will be better for concealing blemishes whereas the smoother texture of the pot will be good for under your eyes or those with dryer skin.
