Blog Challenge - Day 5 & 6

05 – A day in the life, photographs taken throughout your day

The drive to work...grim weather :(

Breakfast...raisin granola and a lovely cuppa

My desk :)

A lunch-hour jaunt to Primark

Mid afternoon nibbles from my latest graze delivery

Stopped by M&S after work to grab dinner & got distracted by the cutest Easter egg ever!

Evening walkies

06 – A photograph of a hairstyle you'd like to have

I love Nicole Ritchie's cut in this pic but my hairline is too far forward for a lovely deep, sweeping fringe like this and I hate to think how much bleach I'd need to get my hair this colour!

Whose hair gives you follicle envy?

Reviewed: Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion Mascara

What they say
'False Lash Effect Fusion combines Max Factor’s biggest ever volumising brush with its latest lengthening formula to create thicker and longer lashes. For those girls who want an extreme lash look, they’ve come to the right place'
What I say
Packaging
The mascara comes in a chunky purple plastic tube with silver lettering. I really like how its bright without being tacky looking.

The only downside is that 'chunky' takes up a lot of space. My make up bag won't close properly with this in it :-\

Product
The brush is the same as the one from Max Factor's False Effect mascara which for reference is huge and fat with short plastic bristles and its the brush which creates volume for your lashes. The lengthening element comes courtesy of an innovative formula that contains the same nylon fibres found in lash extensions.

Application wise, I'm not used to such a large brush and personally found this one cumbersome and awkward to use, especially for little corner lashes. It did however apply the mascara evenly and separated lashes along the way so there were no clumps in sight.

Results
Here are the pictures of the mascara in action....

Bare eye (except for a bit of eyeshadow!)

One coat

Two coats

Three coats
The brush doesn't pick up much formula which meant I needed 3 coats to get a look I was happy with. Having said that you do get a quite big deposit of product on the tip of the brush which tended to catch my nose! It didn't smudge but did get a bit dry and flaky by the end of the day.

Price
£11.99 from Boots.

Would I repurchase?
I'm not likely to purely because I prefer medium brushes and don't think I could get used to one of this size.

Would I recommend?
If you like chubby brushes then this is definitely worth a try as the formula and application are both great.

This week I've been....

Spending time with my mummy. She lives in the Lake District which is about 250 miles away from where I am so I don't get to see her nearly as often as I'd like. I went up for a visit this weekend but didn't tell her I was coming so that it could be a surprise for mother's day. This is me and the mothership back in 2008 when she remarried & I was her bridesmaid - very surreal to be in the wedding party for one of your parents :)

Having to pay a customs charge on a recent order from the US. Actually, the customs fee I can cope with - its the additional £8 handling charge that Royal Mail added on that really stings :(

I finally got my paws on some camel jeans. After the ASOS ones I ordered didn't fit I actually changed tactics and got them from Miss Selfridge instead. This is what they look like...

Jean like and camel coloured not surprisingly..! Sorry for the stock picture too, being a proper lazy bum! I also got some nice bits & bobs whilst at my mum's but will do a proper haul post on them some time this week.

Cucumber sandwiches, scones, cakes and champers! For mother's day I treated my ma to afternoon tea at a hotel overlooking Lake Windemere. This was the stunning view out over the gardens and lake...

and this was the scrummy view of our table laden with goodies!

Du Wop's range of beach-inspired compacts - gorgeous duos for eyes, cheeks or lips packaged in stunning shell cases. Available from Simple Beauty and priced at £18.99 each there are 9 different colourways to choose from. My faves are....

'Treasure' Cheeks Compact - 'Subtle peach blush with golden highlighter'

'Pirate' Eyes Compact - 'Smouldering black with glimmering gold'

'Pirate' Lips Compact - 'Deep red cream lipstick with shimmering gold gloss overlay'

Homemade lipstick pans were my crafty project this week - it was actually really good fun! 'How-to' post to follow soon in case you fancy having a go too!

Blog Challenge - Day 3 & 4

03 – A photograph of your mobile phone

Bit of weird challenge for day 3 - my phone really isn't that exciting! I did take the pic to show the screensaver though which is a bit more interesting...a photo of Andy and his adorable nephew Ollie taken on holiday in Cornwall last summer. It makes me go a bit gooey to see him looking all 'paternal' hehe!

04 – A photograph of yourself 2 years ago

This piccy was taken in February 2009 whilst Andy and I were away for a long weekend in Marrakech (hence the sunshine!) My sunglasses are huge - I look like a fly!!

Blog Challenge - Day 2

02 – Your favourite pair of shoes.

So not exactly shoes but here's my favourite footwear at the moment. These boots are from Next and I've been living in them since I got them just before Xmas. The weather is getting a bit too mild for them now which makes me slightly sad but then immediately very happy to think that Spring is underway and his mate Summer isn't too far behind.

Until tomorrow,

Pinch punch....

first day of the month (am hoping someone reading this has heard that saying before or else I just sound a bit loony right now!)
